The author of the zoological garden project and its founder is Mgr. Libor Hrubý, Dipl.Mgmt., who first established the joint-stock company RANČ VĚTROVY, a. s., the mission of which was to lure kids and young people away from computers by organising all kinds of leisure-time activities for kids and young people. The premises of the company included a zoo park, which was becoming increasingly popular with young and adult visitors and therefore the idea of establishing a zoological garden here came into existence.
Thus, the company RANČ VĚTROVY, a. s., approached the relevant public authorities with an application for a licence to operate a zoological garden on 29th September 2010. Although this was a very complicated and relatively time-consuming legislative process resulting in a number of duties and inspections for the applicant, this step was successful and the licence to operate a zoological garden was granted on 1st July 2011. Based on this licence, the trade name of the company was changed from RANČ VĚTROVY, a. s., to Zoologická zahrada Tábor – Větrovy, a. s.
Zoologická zahrada Tábor – Větrovy, a. s.is the largest zoological garden in the south of Bohemia. It focuses on the American continent fauna, but you can also find representatives of other continents here, such as ostriches, meerkats, zebras and many other animals popular with children as well as adults.
Our zoological garden also takes care of the three biggest felids in the world: tiger, lion and jaguar.
We are open seven days a week.
This is a modern zoological garden focusing as much as possible on welfare, i.e. comfort for the animals, i.e. bringing the environment they live in as close as possible to their natural habitat so that the animals feel good here. We also strive to make sure that the visitors like the place and take away with them the best possible experiences.
Imagine waking in a forest with a bear appearing behind a tree. Does it sound like a nightmare? This is what you can experience at out zoo. The objective of our zoo is to make sure that the visitors do not perceive the compound fencing and feel as if walking amongst the animals. Of course, while keeping the utmost safety of animals as well as visitors.
The mission of the zoological garden is to comply with the European Community law. To contribute to preserving biological diversity of captive-bred wildlife animals, with a special emphasis on preserving the endangered species, and educating the public towards nature preservation.
If you do not feel like walking, you do not have to, you can take a ride through the zoo with our original team of horses (two carriages drawn by a team of horses).
